In light of new regulations, it might be a good idea to have the last sentence of the MI DNR page on muskies changed: Northern pike, bass, sunfish and yellow perch as well as some aquatic insects prey upon muskie young and severely reduce their numbers. Those that survive to adulthood probably need ...

Well, the joys of self-employment prevented me from getting out today. I am still going to try to hit Murray sometime this fall though.

Where to go Thursday?

I have posted here occasionally but have yet to really get into musky fishing. I have a basic selection of tackle (20 lures or so, release tools, St. Croix 7MH musky rod, etd) and really want to catch my first on purpose musky. I have only gotten out a couple times over the past few years looking fo...

12'

I had built a casting deck on my 12' boat out of plywood (3/4"). One the plus side, it ran better with the casting deck than without since it helped the boat plan out nicely. On the down side, it was very, very tippy feeling. I ended up not using it because it did not feel safe in my boat. I fitted ...

musky

I was talking to some old timers on the pier there once, and they said that people used to catch muskies there in some weedbeds off the mouth of white lake, but not anymore. I am not from the area though, so it very well could just be stories.

murray

Well, I did make it out there, but only pulled up to the launch around 5:10, so not much time for fishing. At least I know my new boat runs well now. Took a few casts off the tip of the peninsula and motored around the west arm. Did not spot anything on the depth finder though. I was hoping to spot ...

Where to go out tomorrow?

I have posted here before about getting out musky fishing, and it has not happened yet. Now, I have just bought a bigger used boat and I want to get it out before the season is done. I have decided I want to hit a lake that offers me a good chance of getting a musky in SW MI. It would be nice if it ...

net size

What size bag would I want on the net? I was wondering about the Grand because I think I saw a musky listed a while back from there in the Master angler list and there was a picture in the GR Press about one caught below the thornapple dam there in Ada so thought it might be an underfished populatio...

Any advise for inexperienced musky fisherman

A few falls ago (the year the state record was caught in Thornapple) I gave musky fishing a try with no success. Tried a couple times the next summer in Thornapple, but it was such a zoo, I gave up. This year I plan on making it my goal to actually catch a musky while trying to instead of by acciden...
