Agreed. Enforcement is a flyswatter trying to stop a snowstorm. The only reason they catch people with illegal bucks is because there's not a 6x8 hole in the ice for people to slide them in to. We have to convince the people trying to spear that allowing the fish to grow to legal size is what's best...

Look, you have asshats in every crowd. There are plenty of bucks shot by spotlight every year, etc. All you can do regulation-wise is try to write them tighter and help the people trying to follow what's on the books. Will, Mark Mylchreest, the fish technician in charge of this, is a die-hard muskie angler. I've fished with him and he has only the best interests of the fishery and the anglers at heart. He's a great guy.

My great uncle used to tell a story of hooking fish on a rural Iron County lake that he said was too big to get in the boat. It was one of the colder lake trout lakes out there, though.
