Not sure if they will read the whole thing work-for-word, since I did make it a little long-winded for an email. I wrote 23 full pages in a word document last go around, and was told by 3 different DNRE folks that every word was read! Probably not by everybody, but at least by the folks that I care...

I've used a golf ball retriever for about 8 years now...works sweet! Mine is old school and collapses to 5', extends to 20' - and unlike the new ones it has an aluminum loop on the end that is not closed (meaning that you can hook it on your line and follow it down to your lure easily). The older pl...

I have heard very similar 'the DNR wants us to keep all the muskies'-rumors many times in the past, so I doubt that you started it for Campau swanezy! A few variations on the theme go something like this - 1) Muskies were accidentally stocked in lake X on their way to lake Y, so there is no size lim...

Mike, Sanford does have quite a bit of open water currently (though it's getting down to 10 tonight...again). Unfortunately the launches still are iced in heavily as of today...same for Wixom. The Titt near the Sagniaw is launchable, but quite high and muddy. Still quite a few walleye boats out ever...

Yup, actually bulldawgs and superD's were molded at the same factory in China up until pretty recently. All the tackle booty stuff seems to be made real well (with the possible exception of super cisocs which I haven't used). The company's owner is a chemist from Minnesota, and really puts in a lot ...

Still considerable ice from Budd north, so it will likey be a cold water opener in these parts (flowages excluded). I was informed that this year the goal of the early season isn't to catch 30-somethings, so I'm looking forward to a sound skunking on 38 degree big water, or the Titt chain. And the s...

The 6600 C5 (slightly lower profile, gold, 5.3 gear ratio) is ok for smaller baits. Didn't make the grade overall for me - just seemed to struggle under load of hefty lures and fish. Feels more like a bass reel than a musky reel, unfortunately. The 6500 Mag X (full size, green, 5.3 gear ratio) is a ...

One last deviation that some might find interesting - an angler I know very well has boated 3 muskies while salmon fishing in Pere Marquette Lake over the past few years. The first was caught before Hamlin was stocked (so not a spillover), and all were heavily spotted. So they ARE out there! It woul...
