April 3 Seminar

Is it still going on at the Lansing Gander? I was there today and they didn't have anything about it on their board. They did have something about food plots going on tomorrow.

Early Season Help

This is my first year chasing muskies and I need some general info on fishing the early season; what locations are better than others, lures, etc. Any info will be more than I have right now which is just about nothing. [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]

Won't get out on opener but I'm torn between Ovid and Hudson. It'll depend on whether or not I can convince my fishing parter to get up at 0430 to drive to Hudson or not.

Just a heads up but Gander is no longer selling the GS66. I took one back recently and they told me they were discontinuing the reel. They are still making the 45 and 55 though. Back to the original topic, is a 5:1 ratio okay to use with the double 10-13 bucktails? I keep hearing the same thing abou...

Yes T'apple is a little closer but I might as well try them all right? As far as the flyrod goes, I need to buy a reel and some line before but it's definitely tempting [smilie=biggrin.gif]

To be totally honest, I was completely unaware that Ovid had muskies. How good is the action there? I've only ever caught bass, gills, and cats there. I've never heard anyone talking about muskies in Ovid.

Lunar Eclipse Effects

Just wondering what if any effects lunar and ever solar eclipses have on fishing due to our recent one?

Fall Fishing

I know it's a ways off but I figured I'd ask early. What do I need to know about fall fishing? When is the season considered fall? What lures work best?

Getting started

I've been preparing myself to catch muskies with my flyrod but I'd also like to give it a try with conventional tackle. What kind of reel should I use? Is it specific to the types of lures I'm using? I unfortunately have to work on a budget so if I could find an "all purpose" setup that would work b...

I agree totally with what you're saying. I didn't think the water temps were that high. I'll keep an eye on the temps and wait til they come down a bit. Thanks for the info.

Thornapple Reports

Just wondering how Thornapple has been fishing lately. I'm buying a new boat soon and plan to go there for the maiden voyage. My selection of lures is pretty weak so lure suggestions would be great. Thanks

Ice Out

Obviously I'm new to this but I've read that pike move into the shallows once water temps reach about 45 degrees or so and muskies about 10 degrees later. My question is: Typically when can I expect to see water temps reach that magic number here in southern Michigan and specifically Thornapple Lake...
