When the fish is in the net, do most of you reach down with the pliers and try to "snap" the hooks free, or grab the fish with one hand first? Personally, I use my 11" needle nose to grab the embedded hook, then sometimes grab the line with my free hand and move the lure where it needs to be to ease...

Anyone else read this thread on MI Sportsman? I didn't know there were Sturgeon in the Grand! I'm guessing VERY few and far between. Pretty sad story, too.

Sorry, BKilla. But in all seriousness, check out the fishing reports. They date back to 2005, and there are plenty of posts about Ovid in there. You can only access this if you are a member of MMA. If you are not a member, you are missing out on a lot of info....

Thanks for the tips. I'm actually asking for a friend of mine. He's taking a week vacation to Tippy Dam. He's going to set up camp on some island there. They rent out boats locally there, but only on a day to day basis.

Does anyone know of a rental place that actually rents out the boat, motor, and trailer for a week or so?

No, there aren't any older couples around me who go to Florida. There are 4 upper 20's to mid 30's couples all around.

I'm sorry to hear that, Chris. I live in Kentwood, and I'll be willing to trade you straight up, if that's any closer to your wife's work. 2 stall attached garage, 1/2 finished basement, corner lot, cul-de-sac, fireplace, and even throw in all the stainless-steel appliances!
