To join through muskies inc use that form and designate chapter 47 when you fill out the form. After you join you can contact Will to get members only access on the forum and see what you've been missing.

The problem is that there are thousands of pike waters in the state and only a couple dozen at most will have special regulations that differ from the state wide regs. One suggestion/idea I made was to incorporate all 3 regulation proposals by classifying lakes/river into "Types" as they do for trou...

I certainly agree that managing pike with a broad state wide regulation is difficult because of the vast differences in variables such as population density, size structure, and growth potential in each lake/system. For me personally I really like the idea of a no kill slot from 24-34". If this isn'...

Anybody go to the show today? How was it?? I just got back from helping out at the booth. Very slow today. Hopefully it is much busier the next couple days. We did get a couple of prospective new members though so hopefully they will sign up. One guy lives on Budd lake and I think he might join. It...

All good information in this thread. In order to have realistic expectations you should prolly know that even the best muskie fishermen in the state have an hour per fish (HPF) of 20-40 on that system. Someone who sucks at muskie fishing as bad as me could easily go an entire season on that water wi...

I think maybe tell them to hold off till the beginning of september and then maybe 20 or more every 2 weeks for sept-oct. They should have no trouble selling those even if we're the only ones buying them. The idea of just anybody in rockford being able to buy suckers and go fish them in 75-80+ degre...

Seems like most guys I've seen use a fairly long but fairly heavy rod. Something in the 8 to 9 foot range. You need something stout for the extremely hard hooksets usually used with big suckers. I would worry about hook setting power with say a cat rod or a salmon downrigger rod.

I agree cardiffs are junk as musky reels unless your using real small twitch baits. I have 3 cardiffs, I use them primarily for casting cranks for kings in the fall or pike. For this they are ok. I tried using a 400 cardiff as a muskie reel and basically ruined it within a month trying to cast and r...

I'll prolly try to escape the opening day crowds and fish one of the small west michigan lakes not named thornapple or murray. It will prolly come down to a coin toss between Oster and Campau.

Yeah I definantly hear that, just wondered if there is a priority list of lakes set up or not.

Hey guys, this would be a great time to start letting people know about an empty seat. A good way to get to know one another. I plan on hitting Lsc and Hudson mainly. Save some money with some carpooling! Agreed, many of my trips will be largely contigent on me finding a partner (or 2) to split fue...

There are people here with a lot more knowledge on the subject than me but I will try my best. First keep in mind the state is currently stocking northern strain muskie and to prevent genetic mixing are not planting these fish where they could mix with GLS muskies. That means no rivers, no drowned r...
