HOW MANY???

Post by Jim tenHaaf » Mon Mar 31, 2008 3:26 pm

I was wondering how many muskies each of us caught last year? Who should we be [smilie=bow.gif] to?? I'm not even going to answer this for 2007. I'll just [smilie=giveup.gif] right now!!

I can't get over some of the size averages. I mean 45 or 46 inches... that is a heck of a nice fish in my book. I guess some of the MN lakes make these numbers look easy. If these averages are legit, then we need some of these tyes of lake in MI!!!

Jim,
I took the whole last season off from work.I fished ALOT!! Sometimes 3 times a week.I ALWAYS go for at least 4 hours usually more like 7-8.
Murray/Thorn/Campau/Osterhout are the lakes I fish 98% of the time.
I didnt get out early in the morning do to kids getting off to school, and I didnt stay out as late as I should have on most of my trips.I have really nice equipment, and I know these 4 lakes pretty well.I managed to wrangle 18 of these stupid fish last season [smilie=brickwall.gif] [smilie=brickwall.gif] [smilie=brickwall.gif] [smilie=brickwall.gif] .

Hey,..I never said I was good at it!!

They are legit, I have no questions about that. St Clair is close to Mille Lacs and Vermillion. We don't have many lakes over 50,000 acres with muskies, other than the great lakes, so comparing anything but St Clair to the MN lakes isn't fair to what we have here in Michigan.

How close is St Clair? From 2003-2007 my boat caught roughly 250 fish casting that averaged 44 inches. If I could be on the water every day, or every other day, of the season that average would certainly increase.
