First should probably be D i c k Sternberg's Norther Pike and Muskie book http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_ ... +pike+and+
D i c k Pearson's Muskies on the Shield is a classic and thought provoking, even if not fishing on the shield or anything like it!
Buck Perry's Spoonplugging is very informative on how to find muskies in any lake (even though the book is primarily about bass, it works).
Tony Rizzo's old school Secrets of a Muskie Guide books are nifty because they are all straight talk, no BS.
And if you appreciate the history and the lore side of muskies Larry Ramsell's Compendium of Musky Angling History is a must have too!

Heiting and Saric's Complete Guide to Musky Hunting is a great book and is aimed at people just starting out.
