Can I get by with just a flare gun?

I believe as long as you have 3 shots you would be ok. I carry a 4 pack of hand flares.
Also, make sure they are within the expiration date.

Please somebody chime in if I am wrong.

I did the same thing. 4 flares. All legal now. Maybe need to add a marine radio down the road, especially on St. Clair just for a piece of mind

Not a required item but a good one to have handy would be a pair of wire snips if you fish water where a Indian fish net would be. A buddy caught a net in platte bay last weekend and only lost a little fishing equipment due to quick thinking and wire snips handy at the back of the boat. Just a little FYI for those interested
