Thornapple Muskellunge - VHSv, IPN and IHN

Post by Will Schultz » Fri May 23, 2008 10:00 am

Samples from 32 Muskellunge, collected during spawning at Thornapple Lake, were tested by the Aquatic Animal Health Lab at Michigan State University. The samples were tested for IHN (Infectious Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus), VHS (Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia Virus), IPN (Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Virus) and other viruses.

All samples were virus free.

As anglers we still need to do our part to keep the transfer of these diseases to a minimum.

This PSA from the DNR explains how you can do your part.
