Rethinking to St. Clair

Folks,
I posted last week (from Pennsylvania) asking information on north Lower Peninsula lakes and the kind responses I got caused my friends to rethink. We are now considering Lake St. Clair as a 2007 destination. I have heard much of St. Clair, but would like the opinions of the fishers who know it best, i.e., Michiganers. Lots of questions:
Does Lake St. Clair have a good pike population in addition to its famous muskies?
How is the fishing on the eastern end of the lake near Mitchell's Bay, Ontario?
Would the muskies be active in early June?
Are weedbeds the main muskie hangouts?
Am I accurate in presuming that trolling crankbaits is the most productive approach?
Are there muskie and pike in the St. Clair River?
Thank you in advance for any responses.
