hey guys...hello...ANY help would be greatly apprecaited.
This summer,i am looking to take my son (who is 10 years old) and his friend on a fishing, outdoors trip for 4 to 7 days in Michigan. I am looking at lower Michigan, not the UP.
I realize this IS A MUSKY SITE...but i thought some of you might have some info a "remote" lake in michigan i could take my son. I see there are some lakes in the Manistee National Forest....???
I would like to tale them bass, pike, perch (whatever) fishing. i'm not going to ruin thier trip w/ muskies involved!!!

I am looking for a lake where i can bring my own motor boat, not camp in a tent (cabin or motel room preferred), be near/close to lake and in a remote setting. maybe i would do the tent thing...i wont rule it out.

I have been searching online for a few days, but have not came up with much. any help would be greatly apprecaite.
I need to get the kids out of the city for a week this summer, Michigan has never let me down, so i thought i'd look for a remote lake with some fishing...If anyone could help me

I would suggest looking at the Wellston area as it has quite a few cabins tailoring to the snowmobile/hunting crowd. This would give you access to the Tippy backwater and the lower chunk of the Big Manistee river along with many "pothole" panfish lakes. Also on the plus side is the numerous two tracks, berry picking, mushrooms, streams etc... A couple of great mom and pop restaraunts there as well. Let me know if you would like some more info...

I take trip every year to Fletchers Pond up by Alpena. I dont know if thats to far for ya but there are lots of big bass and pike, and tons of panfish. It is a shallow lake and the fish are everywhere. You dont really have to search for them. It has a lot of cabin/resorts all around the lake. We have been going there for 6 years now and we always do good up. The only bad thing about the lake is that it has some nasty weeds. They get really really thick in the summer. But during the spring its not bad. Its an awesome lake to catch big bass in. There are some other good lakes around that area too.

My suggestion is Lake Hudson in Lenawee County. You could rent a camper, electric is available. Great crappie and walleye,big channel cat, and best of all a shot at a huge Musky. Lake is no wake and is always quiet. There is a beach for swimming. I have fished this lake for 20 years and have never left dissapointed. If you decide on Hudson, let me know and I will show or tell you how to fish it. Will probably be on the water once a week until it gets hard.
