I am anticipating a reply from Will saying that, "it is impossible to compare these baits because they have entirely different actions and there is a time and a place for both in my boat."
That quote will be followed closely by, "the DDD is a very versitile bait and should not be over looked, there is nothing that can't be done with this bait and it will find a permanent home in my boat this year."
Joking aside I chose the Jake.

9" Granny or 9" Grandma? The Granny is wood and more like a 10" Jake, they're handmade by a man in Wisconsin.
Either way they are a completely different tool and totally situational.
Can't vote unless I know the situation...

Will,
Do you mean the Eversoll Grandy? If so, have you used this bait? and would it be a good choice for a shallow twitcher?

Slimeball - Yes, that Granny. The one I have, which has been retired fishes BIG. The buoyancy is similar to a 10" Jake but the diving lip pushes more water. I didn't like to cast it (kinda like a 13" Grandma) but it trolled well.

Yes, of course. When twitching it you get basically the same action but a little shallower. Just like the regular 9" it will not back up out of weeds very well.
