The Detroit District has posted a public notice to our internet home page.

File Number: LRE-2010-00117-51

Applicant: Ottawa County Parks & Recreation

Location: Holland, Ottawa County, Michigan

Waterway: Lake Macatawa

The applicant has requested authorization to construct: 1) a 350’ long x 12’ wide open pile boardwalk parallel to the cove’s north shoreline and 3’ waterward; 2) two 8’ long fishing platforms extending 6.5’ waterward from the south face of the boardwalk, centrally positioned and spaced 96’ apart; 3) an open pile pier measuring 44’ long x 8’ wide, located directly east of the cove and extending southwest from the shoreline with a 14.2’ long x 18’ wide fishing platform extending southeast from the pier’s waterward end; and 4) a 48’ long x 12’ wide open pile pier extending southeast from the cove’s west shoreline, with a 66.3’ long x 24’ wide fishing platform extending northeast at the pier’s waterward end.

In addition, the applicant proposes to discharge approximately 28 cubic yards of riprap in a 23’ long x 10’ wide area east of the proposed fishing pier extending from the cove’s west shoreline to construct a 3’ high fish spawning vane on the Lake bottom; and discharge a total of 12 cubic yards of concrete in 40-8”steel pipe piles and 16-12” steel pipe piles that will support the proposed piers and boardwalk. The stated purpose of the proposed project is to provide the public with universally accessible fishing piers in Lake Macatawa.
