what are the water conditions at lake ovid dark/clear,deep/shallow.
also what types of cover does the lake have and what baits do people generaly use out there

Ovid is a fertile, shallow (very little deeper than 15'), flat impoundment of a tiny creek. It starts out the year with clear water (5'+ vis) and curly leaf pondweed growing over much of the lake. As the summer goes on the curly weeds die, the milfoil takes over, and the algae bloom becomes heavier until late summer when it is can reduce visibility to <1'. There is no one preferred way to catch a muskie in Ovid- there are a lot of fish and you will find them roaming the 'open water', stacked on the breakline, up in the weeds, and everywhere in between. Not trying to be vague but honestly you can just choose your weapon many times- pick whatever method you like, cast or troll, and you will have success.

To be totally honest, I was completely unaware that Ovid had muskies. How good is the action there? I've only ever caught bass, gills, and cats there. I've never heard anyone talking about muskies in Ovid.

Reportedly, they're easier to catch in Ovid than in some other places, but you couldn't prove it by me...

Too many variables can go into the "easy to catch" comparison between lakes, but it is pretty safe to say that there is a higher density of muskies >30" per acre of water in Ovid than there is in any other lake in the state.

Yes T'apple is a little closer but I might as well try them all right? As far as the flyrod goes, I need to buy a reel and some line before but it's definitely tempting
