Spring Tactics for Muskie

What are some good spring tactics for Muskie I found a local place that I have done quite well at in July trolling...however I would like to give it a try earlier in the season...

Local must be relative since there isn't anything local in Whitehall.

one more thing ...will the fish be suspended or in the shallows?

and the water colored is stained ...does it matter?

Yes to all of the above. Seriously, that isn't a joke. Depending on the spring weather, water temps could have fish spawning or nearly in a summer mode. When our season opens in the Lower Peninsula the last Sat. in April I've seen water temps near 60 and water temps in the 40's.

That's what i figured...

When do the fish become active / agressive ...Water temp of 50-55?

There's no easy answer to that question. I've had many good days with more than four fish in the boat when water temps were just into the 40's and conversely had some terrible days with water temps in the 50's and even 60's. It depends on the hand you're dealt because everything in the spring revolves around the spawn and when that takes place.
