Looking for Info on Georgian Bay

Post by Cedersavage »

I would like to make a trip to Georgian Bay for some musky fishing, i will be casting mostly. Does anyone have any info on the better areas for this, Georgian Bay is pretty large and i would like to narrow my search area. I will be heading over with a fifthwheel so RV camping would also be an issue.

Hi
I have fished the Bay for the last 15 years, I have spent all my time on the Moon river, a great place for big fish but not numbers.
The 3 places I know of are, the Moon river, Honey Harbor, and the French river.
For the Moon you can try Westview resort ( Grisdale's ) or Sunset Point resort, the Moon is great I'm addicted, as for the others I don't know that much about them, I've spent all my time on the Moon.
For guides Graham Bristow ontariomusky.com/ or Jody Mills millsmuskyguideservice.com/ , both these guys are top notch.

Hope this helps

I can't add much more. I always stay at Westview (George will take good care of you) and Graham Bristow is top notch in my book. Lot's of good water to fish in the Moon River area and the scenery is quite breathtaking. It's not an easy fishery to master but when you get one it will be a big girl. PM me if you want more details on techniques, etc...

I've stayed at Sunset Point in years past, nice cabins. Last time I was there in the Fall of 03' about 1 a.m. went to open the cabin door to go out to the boat but the 400 lb. black bear on the porch suggested i wait till daylight :o .
Dont know if Sunset www.sunset.ca can accomadate RV camping though. I can recommend Jody Mills also. Good luck.

Schells camp www.schellscamp.ca is the only lodge I know that offers RV camping sites on the French.

Georgian Bay

Wife and I have gone to Birch Island Lodge, which is between North Channel and Georgian Bay. Many areas to fish, the best being McGregor Bay. Rocky, many islands and shoals. I do recall seeing a campground sign on 6 after turning south off of 17. We went thru the Soo. Not sure of a public launch nearby though. Great fishing, great beauty. Like Walt C. knows, muskies there are infrequent, but the ones that are there are HUGE. Bruce.
