western michigan muskie fishing

Post by shibes24 »

I currently live in Indiana and have been muskie fishing for two years now. Have made trips to Webster Lake and had good success. My dad lives near Grand Rapids, MI and has gone with me to Webster but I would like to know what lakes in Western Michigan are best for muskies. I am reading posts about Murray and Thornapple. Is there anything else within a decent drive from Grand Rapids that is a good shot to land a musky???

Also, which is better, Murray or Thornapple???

There are a number of lakes, most are new lakes that don't have fish over the mid-40" range.

Here's a list of lower peninsula lakes that were stocked between 1990 and 2001. Not all of them were stocked regularly because the hatchery program wasn't doing so great back then.

County/Lake

Allegan/Osterhout Lake
Clare/Budd Lake
Clinton/Lake Ovid
Gladwin/Ross Lake
Gladwin/Secord Lake
Gladwin/Smallwood Lake
Gladwin/Wixom Lake
Kent/Campau Lake
Kent/Murray Lake
Lenawee/Lake Hudson
Midland/Sanford Lake
Ottawa/Lake Macatawa
Saint Joseph/Long Lake
Van Buren/Bankson Lake
Van Buren/Round Lake
Wayne/Belleville Lake
