LSC opener

Post by chartertalk »

The LSC opener was a bit slow from the reports that I have heard. It took us 6 minutes to hook into our first fish. It was a 41" and scrappy. We ended up going 4-5 with the largest being 44". I heard that there was a 30# musky caught in the Mitchell's Bay area. All the fish that we boated came on Tuff Shad's -$9 bass and walleye pattern.
We fished the east end of the lake near Tremblays Beach in 12-14 FOW.

"It took us 6 minutes to hook into our first fish."

I generally view that as a bad omen. This often happens to salmon trollers. It reminds me of so many times I've caught a fish on the first cast and bummed out the rest of the day. I remember a early morning when my partner walk all the way out to the end of the pier to join us. He made three casts, caught a brown trout and then picked up is tackle box and unopened beer, and walked back off. He knew enough to quit while ahead. There wasn't another fish caught by 20+ fishers the rest of the day.
