Fishing alone.........

Hey, here's a topic directly related to muskie fishing.............So I've been thinking about the past year and what I can do to make my time on the water more productive while fishing alone. I fished alone this year about half the time and realized that with only one bait (or two trolling) in the water I've really limited my success rate. For example, two guys casting is twice as many lures presented to twice as many fish. Three guys casting, three different lures........you get the picture. So I ask the question: What would you guys do to help increase your number of fish moved while fishing alone? I've tried suckers. They are hard to get, hard to keep alive and a pain in the arse in heavy cover. I've tried covering productive areas fishing fast and covering water, then gone back over the area fishing slow, picking every pocket, with limited success. Trying to hook up with more guys locally who can (and are willing to) fish with me on a moments notice but I don't want just anyone in my boat, if you know what I mean. More trolling? Trolling is so boring and in my opinion not always effective as some may suggest. All and any suggestions are good ones.

I have a foolproof solution for you- you line me up a job in Gladstone and I will be there tomorrow and solve all your lone ranger problems! Seriously I totally agree how handicapped you feel when fishing alone for covering water, and for varying presentations to see what's working, not to mention having the invaluable net man. When I fish alone I usually slow the boat down, but choose a faster moving lure, and pick apart the structure. I would rather concentrate on only the best pieces of structure, as opposed to covering more total area less thoroughly. Some lakes are easier to fish alone than others- expansive weed flat lakes are torturous fishing alone!

I wish I could line you up a job in Gladstone! Problem is everybody is leaving here for greener pastures. Get some gas money and come on up. Another accomplished stick in the boat is always a bonus.

yup fishing alone sucks somtimes. I usually fish alone and i myself would like to hook up with some people this season but i just recently lost my license for about a year wich means i cant tow the boat.
